Today, fishing is a rare and challenging way of life – Few California fishing families remain, due to complex regulations, high cost, and competition with cheap farmed and imported seafood. Struggling to revive a fading way of life, fishermen and entrepreneurs are creating new models for how to support sustainably produced seafood.

OF THE SEA is a feature documentary that tells the story of five California fishermen, and shows how our seafood choices can influence ocean sustainability.

Seeker of Truth (2009)

Seeker of TruthAn award-winning short documentary about the Yuval Ron Ensemble, a multi-religious ensemble of musicians that tour the world playing concerts for peace.

The Yuval Ron Ensemble has been actively involved in creating musical bridges between people of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths. Through interviews with the players, concert footage and rehearsals, this film explores the multi-religious ensemble’s motivation to reconnect people in a time of conflict. The Seeker of Truth DVD includes a full-length concert video in addition to the documentary film.

Over nine months, director Mischa Hedges and his crew traveled the west coast to learn more about our food system.
